The hike begins in cool forests, quickly propels the hiker into vast, open meadows filled with wildflowers, then rocky slopes and heather, before ending at a steep rocky pinnacle with a historic fire lookout perched on top. Hidden Lake Overlook Trail The Hidden Lake Overlook Trail starts right behind the Logan Pass Visitor Center located along the Going To The Sun Road in Glacier National Park. The upslopes are a bit hard and the downslopes, not recommended for people with bad feet or knees. Expect a lot of sun and wind at this high elevation. If you are entering on foot, horse, or bike the fee is $20 per person (Winter: $15). I would certainly recommend it. The Hidden Lake overlook is just a few minutes past this point and it does not disappoint. Highly trafficked. Hidden Lake Overlook Trail is located at Logan Pass. Easily one of my favorite trails ever. The upslopes are a bit hard and the downslopes, not recommended for people with bad feet or knees. Beyond the overlook the trail loses almost 800-ft. as it descends on moderately-steep to steep grades to the lake in 1.25 miles. The trail to the Hidden Lake Overlook begins behind the Visitor Center (west side) at Logan Pass (see driving directions below). Nice quick hike. Very nice trail, mostly boardwalked. When you first arrive at Logan Pass, it’s best to head into the Logan Pass Visitor Center and find out any of the latest information on the hike. When we went in July they had just opened the trail so there was a good amount of snow making it more difficult for some than you’d typically expect. To the right you can see Mount Cannon in the distance, while to your left the Dragons Tail leads from Mount Reynolds and connects with Bearhat Mountain. Easily one of my favorite trails ever. The end of the trail offers stunning views of the lake. The Garden Wall, a high ridge punctuated with distinctive peaks, fills the skyline to the north of Logan Pass. Absolutely beautiful trail and a must see if you’re visiting Glacier. I recommend getting an early start for Logan Pass otherwise parking is an issue.
